Beneficiaries of the GCE according to Hon Adeola, were selected across all strata of the community within the council jurisdiction.

He said the list was generated following a painstaking compilation of their details via a data form earlier issued out through stakeholders like the Council’s Legislative Arm, Religious Organisations, the Community Development Committee (CDC), the Market Men & Women Association, Artisan Associations, and other subsisting interests within the council area.

Hon. Adeola congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to maximize the opportunity by coming out in flying colours in the examinations.

He explained that the gesture was part of the youth empowerment programs of the administration in making the youths more productive and responsible element of the society noting that more educational programs will be initiated ahead of and beyond the administration’s 100 days in office to complement the state government’s impressive efforts in the education sector.

He said; “It’s a move initiated by our administration to tackle youths restiveness that is common in a society where education is not accorded the deserved attention. The importance of this noble action is a clear testimony that we are in a new dawn in Isolo LCDA as the government is embarking on developmental plans in the face of the current trying period resulting from the pandemic era to sustainably achieve a national recovery.”

“Our council is creative in thinking by presenting this G.C.E forms to 200 beneficiaries. But, I want to implore all the beneficiaries to be academically inclined and infuse the act of seriousness to their academics as the government believes it is part of the dividends of democracy to the average Nigerians.”

He added that the massive road rehabilitation projects and other developmental programs that have been unfolding across the council area since the inception of the administration are few of what will be seen in the next four years.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Isolo LCDA, Barrister Gani Bello, commended Otunba Olasoju for the initiative relating it to Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s free education policy of the pre-independence era through the second republic which he (Bello) benefitted from.

He charged the beneficiaries to make themselves and the council proud in the examinations.

Also speaking at the presentation ceremony, Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Akeem Alarape, the Deputy Leader, Hon. Kanayo Osondu who were among other dignitaries at the event took turns beseeching the beneficiaries to come out successfully in the examinations impressing it on them that their success in the exam might be a gateway for greater scholarships awards.

Conveying her appreciation to the council chairman for the initiative, one of the beneficiaries, Monday Precious expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the council boss.

A parent whose child benefited from the council largesse, Mrs Nimota Adeniji said; “I want to appreciate the chairman for these free GCE forms and that’s why I’ve come with my child to witness the presentation. We’ve been bothered about how to purchase the form before we heard about the privilege. We are immensely grateful to Otunba Adebayo Olasoju.”
