Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has chided attempts by some state selection committee to only favour and select people from their tribes or religion beliefs for the employment of 774,000 Nigerians for public service works across the nation.
Keyamo made this known on Saturday on his Twitter handle.
He said any attempt by the states selection committee to only employ people from their tribe alone would not be tolerated.
The Minister directed the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to ensure due diligence is followed in the selection process.
“We understand some States’ Selection Committees are considering only indigenes for the 774,000 jobs. That’s unacceptable. Anyone who is resident in any LGA in the country, irrespective of tribe, is qualified. It’s one country in which we all live. The NDE coordinators should note,” he tweeted.
