The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo ( SAN), has debunked rumours going round that interested applicants for the public works service should visit the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) offices to register for the scheme.
The Minister said all applications would be done local government by local government and not state level.
The public works service is meant to employ 1000 Nigerians from each of the 774 local goverments in Nigeria for menial jobs.
Keyamo on his Twitter account on Satudrday asked Nigerians to disregard the message directing people to register at the NDE office in their various states.
“Kindly disregard all messages directing people to go to NDE offices to register for the Special Public Works. This will breach COVID-19 guidelines and it will not ensure we strictly achieve the 1000 per LGA. The selection will be done from LGA to LGA, not in States’ NDE offices,” he tweeted.
