Chadian’s newly elected President Idris Deby is dead.
It was gathered that President Deby died of injuries he suffered on the battlefield with people believed to be rebels in the country.
Deby, 68, “has just breathed his last defending the sovereign nation on the battlefield” over the weekend, army spokesman General Azem Bermandoa Agouna said in a statement read out on state television.
General Mahamat Kaka, the son of the deceased Chadian leader, has been named interim head of state, the army spokesman said.
Recall that the late Chadian leader was re-elected only yesterday (Monday) for another term in office, thereby extending his 30 years in power.
