Council boss assures residents of more dividends of democracy

On assumption of office for his second tenure, the chairman of Amuwo Odofin local government area of Lagos state, Engr Valentine Buraimoh has assured residents of the council he will deliver more dividends of democracy to them

The council boss stressed that youth empowerment and provision of infrastructure will be his top priorities.

Buraimoh who made the disclosure on Wednesday while speaking with journalists on the plans for his second term, stated that he will reciprocate the good gesture of the people who voted for him by ensuring they enjoy dividend of democracy in the council.

He maintained that he will surpass his first term achievements by embarking on people friendly programmes and policies, which will be implemented speedily.

He said, “let me firstly thank our people in Amuwo Odofin for electing me in the last election for a second term. I appreciate this gesture, and that is why I am promising that we shall consolidate on what we have done in the first term and improve on them by providing dividends of democracy to our people. My victory at the July 24 local government election was as a result of what our administration did in the first term. So in reciprocating their kind gesture, we will embark on people friendly policies and programmes”.

“The youth, who are the future, will be the focus of this government and their interest will always be paramount. It will be about youth empowerment and development. Our infrastructure will be attended to again. We shall surpass what we did in the first term, that’s my pact with the people of Amuwo Odofin this time around”.

He also praised Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu for his giants strides in the area of infrastructure and public spirited programmes.

He said, “I must not fail to commend our hardworking and performing Governor for his commendable feats since assumption of office, especially his giant strides in the area of infrastructure and people friendly policies, especially the diligent management of the COVID-19 pandemic. We, in Amuwo Odofin will always complement his efforts, so that, the needed development will be achieved in Lagos.”

The council boss appealed to residents of the council to ensure prompt payment of their rates and taxes to enable the local government deliver on its promises, as the internally generated revenue of the council will be chanelled towards the development of the council.
