Council Tenders Board Gives Contractors Ultimatum to Complete Projects

The tenders board of the Oshodi-Isolo local government has given contractors handling massive roads and ongoing pipe-borne water projects across all wards of the council ultimatum to complete the projects or lose their contracts.

The board headed by the council vice-chairman, Mrs Modupe Badmus-Aregbe, handed the ultimatum to the contractors when they visited sites of the ongoing projects on Monday.

Other members of the board include the procurement officer as secretary, council-manager, council engineer, legal officer and works and infrastructure department.

Badmus-Aregbe however expressed satisfaction with the level of work progress in most of the ongoing projects but said those yet to be completed must be done completely within expiration of the ultimatum which is two weeks from now.

She said the council tender board will not hesitate to terminate any contractor job that fails to meet up the deadline set and failed to deliver good and quality roads will have his or her contract summarily terminated.

She said; “If you are unable to deliver contracts within the weeks given we are going to terminate your contracts. This does not mean you should do a shoddy job, we want a good and quality job delivered within record time.”

“I want you to do diligent work on every roads project given to you. We don’t want to be called again in few weeks after completion for repairs of the roads.”

The committee commended those contractors that have delivered on record time and also lauded the quality job done.

They also visited some ongoing pipe-borne water projects across the wards, the water project sites visited were rated good while urging speedy completion of others.
