In efforts towards ensuring that the people of Eti-Osa Local Government enjoy true dividends of democracy, the council chair, Hon. Saheed Adesegun Bankole, has held a stakeholders meeting to engage the people in preparation for the 2021 budget.
According to the council chairman, the Stakeholders Consultative forum on year 2021 budget and Public Hearing on Local Government by-laws is meant to ensure that his accountability policy is further strengthened and making sure the people are actively involved in the running of the local government affairs.
He said, “the gathering is a deliberate effort at listening to the needs and yearnings of the people in other to make appropriate plans for them in coming year’s budget in accordance with the Lagos State Service Charter.
“Being a bipartite one, the program was also targeted at making the populace understand the reasons for by-laws and its intended impact.”
Bankole in his opening address further touched on all pressing issues in the country as he called for strict adherence to the COVID-19 regulations.
The council boss also talked on the ENDSARS protest and how it has negatively affected lives and property of residents of some parts of Lagos State most especially Eti Osa.
He admonished parents on the need to consciously raise morally upright children and the eventual repercussions of immortality.
The Council Mayor seized the occasion to highlight some of his achievements in the last 3 years, adding that it is a continuous process in other to achieve the desired goals.
The Public Hearing on By-law was presided over by the Council Clerk, Mr. Bashir Arowolo, the session witnessed legislators passing out a new set of laws as regards taxes on several consumable and services. It was extensively explained to the people and room was given for individuals to air their views.
The chairman Community Development Committee (CDC), Alhaji Lateef Moshood while talking on the occasion stated that a vote of confidence has to be passed on Hon Bankole by his executive members and the legislators because the chairman has not disappointed them in any way even in the areas of projects distribution and payment of their dues since assumption of office.
He, therefore, expressed hope that the year 2021 budget would no doubt be tailored towards meeting the aspirations and needs of the people so that Eti Osa will be moved to the next level.
In attendance was the Vice Chairman, the entire Legislative council, the Executive council members, key council functionaries, APC Party Chieftains and Faithfuls, CDA executives and other stakeholders.
