… Students Representing Oshodi-Isolo LG Qualifies to Final Stage with 98 Percent Marks
It was honour and encomium showered on the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Oshodi-Isolo Local Branch yesterday, the students who represented the local government area qualified to final stage of Inter-secondary School Debate Competition.
The debate competition titled: “Youth Debate For A Greater Lagos”, was organised by Lagos West Senatorial District of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, at Ajeromi Local Government Secretariat.
At the venue, twenty-eight Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Areas (LCDs) under the Lagos West Senatorial District participated in the first stage of the contest; where Ali and Ridwan Ayodele made Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area triumphed with 98 percent marks. Consequently, the students have clenched the list of 10 participatory schools shortlisted for the grand finale of the contest.
Elated by the result that qualified the students to the final of the debate competition, the Coordinator of the NYCN, Oshodi-Isolo Local Branch, Comrade Ewetade Monsuru said: “I am so happy about the performance of the students to the final stage. And I thanked God for the victory at the event. I prayed that the students should win the cash prize and other benefits attached to it.”
“Once again I thanked God. I also thanked the youth of the area who reposed their confidence in me to lead the youth body. The executive committee members, especially the General Secretary and the PRO of the NYCN Oshodi-Isolo Branch deserved my unreserved appreciations likewise the students who represented the Oshodi Local Government Area well in the contest”
“By this victory, we have shown the world that the general youth in Oshodi-Isolo communities are known for talents, knowledge and capacity buildings, which we have demonstrated at the event. The youth in Oshodi are good ambassadors of Lagos and Nigeria at large” Comrade Monsuru pointed out.
The event had in attendance the Executive Chairman of Ajeromi Local Government Area, Hon. Fatai Adekunle and his entourage; Vice-Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos West, Comrade Jamiu Ademosu. Also, the secondary school students across Lagos West thronged the event in their different colourful uniforms.
In expectation towards the grand finale of the Debate competition, the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos West District aims to hold the event at Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Secretariat in November, 2021.
