FG renames Abuja National Stadium after MKO Abiola

In recoginising democratic heroic deeds of late Chief MKO Abiola, the Federal Government has officially renamed the Abuja National Stadium after the late business mogul.

The stadium which was officially commissioned by the federal government will now be called MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

This comes a year after the Federal Government pledged to immortalise the late sports philanthropist, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola by renaming the stadium after him.

It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had, on June 12, 2019, announced the change of the name of the National Stadium to MKO Abiola Stadium.

The President also signed June 12 into law as Democracy Day as a mark of honour to Chief MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
