Fuel Tanker Fell in Lagos, Police Condones Off Scene

A fuel laden tanker has fallen in Surulere area of Lagos in the early hours of Saturday.

To prevent spillage that might lead to fire outbreak, the Lagos state Police command has deplored its men and condoned off the place.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Adekunle Ajisebutu disclosed this to newsmen.

He said; “Following a lone minor motor accident involving a Mack Truck with Reg. No. LAGOS 961 XJ laden with 33,000 PMS at about 0400hrs of today, police officers from the Surulere Divisional Headquarters were mobilised to the scene at Stadium Bus Stop along Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere. The DPO, CSP Adebayo Adeoya, instantly called Fire Service, LASTMA and LASEMA officials who responded swiftly. The police patrol teams deployed to the scene immediately cordoned off the place while providing adequate protection for the Fire fighters and others. The scene was neutralized.

“Concerted efforts ongoing to trans load the remaining fuel and evacuate the fallen tanker. Meanwhile, the police are still maintaining their presence at the scene to protect lives and property and prevent hoodlums from scooping the fuel.”
