Glitz, glamour, encomium as Inner Wheel District 912 Launches News Letter, Rewards Members

It was a wind-down of one-year meritorious service to humanity by the Inner Wheel District 912 Nigeria as its District Chairman, Mrs Ronke Solomon gave an account of her stewardship over the year on Saturday, 19 June, 2021.

In a merrimaking mood, all members of the humanitarian organisation and their guests decked in different beautiful attire. They were all shining and radiating joy. The day will remain memorable in their lives.

Mrs Solomon, the centre of attraction of the day was well decked in her flowing red colour gown with to match beads, she regaled herself with the Districts symbol of office which she wore throughout the programme as their tradition requires. She was radiating in joy as she moves around excitedly exchanged pleasantries with guests and members of the district.

She waved at others in distant far from her with smiles pervading her face.

Given the account of her stewardship, Solomon said the task was heinous and very challenging but was able to weather the storm successfully through supports from the members and the well to do publics who supported her through the administration.

She stated that at the inception of her inauguration as DC was the period of the coronavirus pandemic which was a big setback for the humanitarian organisation to function abinitio but with their strong mind and reduction in the number of reported cases across the globe they were able to set out and render their humanitarian services to various less privileged homes and communities within Lagos and Ogun States, the two states her district covers in Nigeria.

As part of her administration’s achievement was the empowerment of over 500 youths in different skills acquisition programme, literacy and adult education for over 200 illiterates, elders within Ogun and Lagos states.

Mrs Solomon also reveals that her administration was able to empower petty traders with cash and trading tools in Ogun state, over 25 women benefitted from this. She said it did not stop at that as they were able to carry out a free medical mission for over 500 residents in Mushin, they were treated for various diseases, free eye test, distributed free eye glasses, blood pressure check, distribution of baby materials and distribution of hospital material to five primary health care centres in Lagos and Ogun states respectively.

The district according to Mrs Solomon also carried out her annual programme where they welcome baby of the year at the Isolo General Hospital, over 100 pregnant women were given baby and mama kits and gave five physiotherapy machines to the hospital and other primary health centres within it’s district jurisdiction.

The district also conducted a massive free eye test for students in Lagos and also gave free eye glasses to the students and their teachers in accordance with their needs. The students were also given writing materials- school bags, exercise books, mathematical sets among others for their delight.

While acknowledging the efforts of her members, the district chairman presented various awards to some of them in appreciation of their support towards the success of the administration.

The district’s news letter was launched in grand style. The well designed and International seized magazine was presented to the public by the district chairman along with guests as each held copies after it was unveile.

They launched the magazine in different capacities and a substantial amount raised for the district humanitarian activities in the coming year of a new administration.

Both the children of the district chairman and other guests contributed in no small measure to the launching.

All were treated to choice sumptuous meal with the disc jockey dishing melodious sings underground to the delight of all present.
