Lagos Police Commissioner, Odumosu, orders renovation of police cell

In his determination at ensuring a conducive atmosphere and better condition of prison inmates, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has paid a visit to the Cell at the Ogudu Police Station and ordered its immediate reconstruction to a modern one.

In a statement made available to newsmen, by the Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Police Command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a Supreintendent of Police (SP), on Friday, the visit enabled the Commisioner of Police an opportunity to inspect and assessed the deplorable condition of the cell at Ogudu Police State.

According to the CP the cell is not palatable for inmates and ordered the immediate construction and/or reinforcement of the cell facility to a model type that befits the present modern policing ideologies of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Muhammed Abubakar Adamu, NPM,mni.

The Commissioner of Police, who was on routine check of police deployments and formations across the command, noticed the condition of the cell and ordered the Officer in charge of the works department (DLS) to commence immediate construction and reinforcement of the cell; and to fix all necessary gadgets to make it a standard model cell.

The police chief also seized the opportunity to charge the officers and men of the command, particularly those attached to Area H, Ogudu, on proactiveness, commitment and patriotism to national service and general security of Lagos State , and Nigeria at large.
