The federal government has reinstated that it is yet to give an official date for resumption of schools in the country.
This was said by the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, during the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing on Thursday.
The minister said schools will be disinfected and make sure they are safe for the children to return to school before declaring any date for resumption.
“We will disinfect schools and make sure they are safe for pupils to resume before we declare schools to reopen. We cannot afford to open schools and get the children infected.
On the resumption date, please keep the date open,” he said.
Also speaking at the briefing, the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said it is not true that schools will open in two weeks time.
“It is not true that schools will open in two weeks time, so still keep your children with you,” he said.
