The Oshodi-Isolo local government chairman, Otunba Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede has begun rehabilitation work on Onikewunla Street, Shogunle and Iretioluwa Street, Oshodi Lagos.
Otunba Oloyede said the rehabilitation of the roads is part of the fulfilment of his campaign promises to bring unprecedented development to the council through improved infrastructures.
As a way to make real his promises to the people, contractors moved into the roads, Onikewunla street, Shogunle ward and Iretioluwa Street, Afariogun ward for total rehabilitation of the deplorable roads.
Residents of Iretioluwa Street commended the chairman for coming to rehabilitate the road. They described the road as a major road linking the Oshod-Apapa Expressway and the popular Oshodi market.
It was also a song of praise at Onikewunla street as residents appreciated Otunba Oloyede for bringing development to their community. Saying the road, linking the major Agege Motor Road will further help improve economic activities of the community when completed.
A resident at Iretioluwa Street, Tpl. Yusuf Olalekan, said it was a pleasant surprise for them to see tractors coming to rehabilitate the street.
“When we see the Caterpillar coming, we were surprised because we have never seen such in the street for the past 14 years I have been leaving here. Seeing this today was a great pleasure knowing that the road will be rehabilitated.
We thank him for this wonderful work, may God bless him,” he said.
Alhaja M A Damola, Secretary Araromi Onikewunla CDA thanked the council helmsman for the rehabilitation of the road.
“We thank the chairman for remembering us in his roads project, this Onikewunla street has been in a deplorable state for long, we are happy he is doing it for us, may God bless him,” she said.
The contractor handling the roads project, Jofan Constructions said the roads will be upgraded with best materials to stand the test of time as he promised they will be delivered within four weeks.
The council boss has also commenced pipe borne hole water across the seven wards of the local government.
Oloyede said, the boreholes will be delivered and commissioned within the first 100 days in office along with massive roads project he has commenced their rehabilitation within the council.
He said each of the seven wards in the council will get three boreholes within the first 100 days and this will not be the least as he said total infrastructural development of the council is his priority.
