Oshodi-Isolo LG Vice Chair Urges students to be focus on their studies

The Vice-Chairman, Oshodi-Isolo local government, Mrs Modupe Badmus-Aregbe has advised students to be focused on their studies.

Mrs Badmus Aregbe gave this advice when she was speaking at the Spelling Bee Competition held at the council secretariat on Thursday.

The council vice-chairman who represented the wife of the chairman, Mrs Folakemi Oloyede asked the students to also take advantage of vocational skills as they go in life to help them become self-dependent.

Mrs Badmus-Aregbe who also attended the debate competition of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos West Senatorial District held at the council secretariat urged the students to be watchful of companies they keep.

She said; “Focus on your education, it pays. I have never dreamt of becoming a vice-chairman but with education, I am here today.

Be watchful of the kind of companies you keep, remember that your parents send you to school to learn, your ability to go to school is a privilege, make sure you make judicious use of it.

You must also have the vocational skills, this will give you the opportunity to earn a living while learning.”

At the end of the spelling bee competition, Godwin Gabriel of state primary school took 1st position, Kehinde Aribilola of Idea Primary came 2nd while Veronica Ejelbi Ipesa Balogun came third in the primary category.

Vivian Nkwoda and Adeogun Aminat Daramola both of Bolade Senior Grammar school came first and second respectively while Ayorinde Bolarinwa of Ewututun Senior Grammar School came third.

Also at the debate competition, Ajeromi Ifelodun local government came first after scoring 78 points, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area came second 77 points and Orile-Agege local council development area came third with 75 points.

The first position went home with a N50,000, second N30,000 and third N20,000 respectively.
