…. Animashaun emerges Chairman
The Oshodi-Isolo local government chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday conducted a peaceful congress where officials who will run the affairs of the party emerged.
The congress which took place at the Abibatu Mogaji hall in Oshodi had in attendance all the chairmen of the councils and the local council development areas of Oshodi-Isolo, Isolo and Ejigbo.
In his welcome address, the chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede thanked all members present for the love they have for the party and appealed that the process must be free and fair as the image of the party is critical.
While given his opening remark, the chairman of the congress committee from the state, Hon Wahab Akere disclosed that they were sent to conduct the primary election devoid of rancour, while he also called for free, fair and credible congress.
Hon Akere described the the peaceful conduct witnessed at the local government as unprecedented as he said the tempo be maintained.
He admonished party faithfuls to be committed to the party and see the election as a call to duty to would be officers.
In conducting the election, all the delegates were called upon to signify their presence according to their wards.
At the end of the exercise, Alhaji Saheed Kolawole Animashaun emerged chairman, while Barrister Gani Bello was elected Secretary of the party.
Other executive members elected include Alhaji Kasumu as vice Chairman, Comrade Adenuga Adebayo as assistant secretary, Comrade Adekunle Kehinde was elected legal adviser.
In his acceptance speech, the LGA chairman, Alhaji Animashaun thanked almighty God for the success of the congress and all the chairmen as well as the leaders of the party for the confidence reposed in him, promising not to disappoint them.
He promised he will discharge his duty, faithfully, diligently and without favour, stressing that he will run a government that will be inclusive.
The party chairman also stated that he will ensure he closes ranks with all aggrieved members in the interest of the party, especially as the general election beckons in 2023.
The Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government in an interview said that he was happy with the peaceful conduct of the election and that he will be available to render assistance to the party executive at any point in time.
He also advised all the newly elected executive members to be upright, so that the party can grow positively.
Otunba Oloyede also called on the new executives to eschew divisive politics.
Earlier in the day, all the wards Executive members were administered oath of office by Barrister Kayode Tinubu.
