Oshodi Residents Seek More Roads Construction at Stakeholders Parley

Construction and rehabilitation of roads in Oshodi-Isolo local government area of Lagos state remain the major demand of stakeholders in the local government.

Making their demand on Wednesday at the council secretariat during the year 2022 Budget stakeholders meeting reiterated that the roads in the council area are in a bad state and it is negatively affecting the movement of goods and services.

The residents said the infrastructural decade is also hampering the free flow of business activities of business owners within the Oshodi environment.

The participants at the epoch event were full of praises for the way the chairman kickstarted his administration with massive construction of road projects and other projects. Like Oliver Twist, however, they asked for more.

The residents took turn one after the other from their various wards to present their needs to the local government chairman’s attention.

Two people from each ward were asked to present the requests of their respective ward, noting that the council leadership will not just decide on projects to be assigned to each ward, rather, the residents of the ward should identify what they direly need.

Apart from the representatives from the seven wards making up the local government, members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Oshodi-Isolo local government chapter led by Comrade Monsur Ewetade, representatives of Igbo, Hausa, artisans, traders, NURTW, and national Union of teachers also made their requests and contributions.

The council chairman, Otunba Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede in his response assured all that all the requests will be harmonized, prioritized and executed accordingly.

He disclosed that as much as he would love to execute all the requests and even more, the paucity of funds might not allow him to move at the pace at which he would naturally have moved. But regardless, he said would still give his very best in ensuring that Oshodi-Isolo local government is transformed infrastructure wise.
