Students Missing as Gunmen attack secondary school in Katsina

Is this another Chibok experience? Asked inquisitive minds, as gunmen on Friday night stormed Government Science Secondary School in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State less than 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari embarked on a private visit to his country home in Daura.

The Police said many of the secondary school students are still missing after gunmen attacked the school.

According to a statement released by Katsina State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, however, no fewer than 200 students were rescued and safely returned to their school yesterday.

Isah said in response to the situation, the DPO reinforced the policemen on duty with Armoured Personnel Carrier, (APC) which forced the hoodlums to retreat into the forest.

He disclosed further that, the Nigerian Police, Army and Air forces are now working closely with the school authorities in order to ascertain the number of missing students. Also, search parties have been organised to complement the work of the security forces.

As at the time of filing this report, the actual number of students that have been kidnapped or missing is still unknown.
